the fascinating mind of Dan Brown

Research....intellectual...call to action ...the ancient mysteries...how well do we understand our beliefs?... noetic science...puzzles and secret codes of the lost symbols...Dan Brown's latest novel offers a chance to stretch our mental inquisitiveness and ask what do we really know about the power of the human mind? I truly enjoyed Angels and Demons plus the famous DaVinci Code with the inquisitive mind of Tom Langdon in his quest for the holy grail and the truth about good and evil. I have not bought the latest novel but tomorrow I think I will have to jump in with two feet. The questions and beliefs discussed in Dateline tonight is drawing me into the web of the unknown of our government's historical past. Tah Dah...I am now hooked once again.

I have spent the entire day in my pajamas working on my hand work and seed stitches as I am ready to move into another section of my creation narrative and poetic inspiration from the civil rights leader Kath Walker from Australia. The colors are melting into one another and while my fingers remain steady my mind is revising the next wandjini figure and how and what I want to express in my stitches and bead works. As I grow closer to a completed project and narrative I see myself racing in an effort to actually see what my muses will allow my hands to create. Yes I do sketch in journals and on napkins and scraps of papers but when I begin to work on my hand dyed textiles another mysterious design element reveals a message to me and my hands how the image will develop for my viewers. Slow, steady, quiet work in isolation is the only way I can describe this process step in creating my works. In my mind I am already thinking about the flag messages and formal design of the third in this series. The fourth quilt top is still in pieces but almost ready to make an appearance and ready to come to life. Revelations and small baby steps will guide my design process as I learn to trust my life experiences and journey's gifts.

Tonight we may have snow flurries and it really feels like snow when I step out into the dark cloak of the Fall night sky. The leaves are rustling almost mystical messages from my hillside's secret night songs. Tomorrow I will go to the grocery and pick up medications and try to capture a few more pictures of this explosive colorful moment in time. Time seems to rampage its passing so much faster then decades long ago. Time is speeding up when I feel I have so much to do and so little time. Snuggle down into a slumbers passage and awake with the child's wonder of what the new day will bring us all in the morning. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

  3. I find it very interesting how different artists and creative types come up with their creations and the whole process of how they execute them. Thanks for sharing how you do things, and your lovely photos. Enjoy your weekend.

  4. I can really relate to your description of the actual process of creating with your hands. For me, too, it is a quiet, meditative time, but my mind wanders, problem solving elsewhere as well. Very soothing!
