Sunday blessings..a dear voice from my past

I live my life in widening circles
that reach out across the world.
I may not complete this last one
but I give myself to it.

I circle around God, around the primordial tower.
I've been circling for thousands of years
and I still don't know : am I a falcon,
a storm, or a great song?
The Book of Hours I,2
Rainer Maria Rilke

I am experiencing the quiet of the day after a storms... the sky has cleared and the rumbles have been replaced by my delicate songbirds. Coffee cup in my hands I embrace the momentum of the day and slowly move in a rhythm that will ease me into a dance with my stitches and cotton threads chained together. The sky was a pale blue glaze peeking

through the softest of green foliage swaying in the softest pf breezes like a private intimate ballet for my eyes only. I love living in a gentle flow with nature up on my hill...yes winters can be extremely wicked with icy treacherous obstacles but the softer seasons caress my artist soul. I am hoping everyone can find that moment of peaceful serenity each day but on Sundays I can feel a presence of reverence...all is well.

I received a phone call from my sister of white light ...Susie Shie and we caught up on the last couple of weeks with our art, our families and the FAVA opening in a couple of weeks. Susie has been a person who I know understands me even if we have been separated by time and the miles. Her work ethic is remarkable and I aspire to be able to someday keep up with her. Her green quilts to save the earth, the newest series of political narratives supporting our Obama's treacherous political waters are her voice to share her perspectives with the global circle of artists. Her quilts become living history pages recording the moments of the day and yet usually promote cooperation and collaboration for all public service persons dedicated to improving the quality of life in America for all. We will be able to get together at the opening on May 16TH up in Oberlin, Ohio and spend time together and share hugs. I recognize the need to have a network and circle of artists to bounce ideas and criticisms to continue growing as personal mark making. Thank you dear friend for your loving support for over 20 years in my mark making quilt making. Susie empowers one to ask the "what if" question and there are no rules when you are creating your visions. Have a wonderful weekend and play in your art stuff...just touching art supplies increases my momentum. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

  2. Dear Anne, Your words fill me with joy...I think I am going to the opening so I will photograph and hopefully report back to you all in my future blog posts. It is my first time to be participating in this exhibit and I do feel honored. Keep on working in that studio! The storms are hitting us this afternoon so it is easy to stay in and work.
