Every Inchie Monday...Solitude
Yesterday I cut, strip pieced and combined bright colors to help create over 200 coverlets made from fleece and quilted borders for the Flying Horse Camp...an affiliate of the Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang program for seriously ill children here in Ohio. Most of the children /students at the conference had never even attempted a sewing project before but their enthusiasm was contagious. By afternoon with a team of quilting ladies had sewn several finished pieces. The future of our country is in the hands of these wonderful energetic students.... I was tired but once again very grateful to have met and worked with this dedicated team from HOBY.
Today I rested and made a roast for dinner tomorrow's dinner. The rains have returned and a dangerous storm front is moving in from the west. Tonight could be a very bumpy ride for us all. I thought of my word inspiration this week...solitude. After some consideration I decided on a Milagros for the human heart along with a pearl and a swirl completed with a lone wolf's howl. Living with Lupus is my white wolf ...my solitude is consumed with living a balanced life in order to continue to live. "Live simply so others might live"...this solitude is a gift to ensure my serenity and focus for continuing my journey in making my sacred marks.
I have just completed the conclusion of the PBS special on the lives of our North American Bears. Now with the HBO series Game of Thrones... a fantasy theme filled with kings, castles, savages and revenge and dragons. It is some background noise and story while I work and quilt. Before I go to bed I hope to stay awake to see the AMC series "The Killing" mystery series. Quiet calm evenings to renew my body and soul for a very busy week ahead. I hope you all have enjoyed the weekend. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
