Somehow....today I hurt my back during the night...could it be the rains??? I went to work and Michelle began her quick sketch of me while I was working on my inchie for next Monday. Little did I know she was sketching me...her quick sketch looks better than me! Kay Kenyon brought in her invitations for her opening at the Liz Argyle Gallery next week. A friend came in to purchase two gifts for friends and Kylie came in to paint her Pink Sheep! I then went to the board meeting at 4 PM and then I ran to my grand daughters choral program at Cherry Valley Elementary school....a full house attending. We went to Bob Evans for a quick dinner of celebration and I am not home waiting to take some more Advil ... my back has not improved at all. My tea today was iced even though it was a cold damp rainy day...I pretended it was SUNNY! The power of the mind! Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
You are soooo busy. I have iced tea during the day now, as it is getting warmer. But in themorings I still have my hot tea. Hope your back is better. Love the sketch.
Ouch Ouch Ouch...I am up and off to the studio but my back is OUCHY painful. Tonight I have my little ones for family night and St. Patrick's Day collages and cards. Say a little prayer! Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
I am an artist who makes her marks with a needle and thread. My visual journals give birth to my quilts and are the evidence of my existence. The dialogue between the viewer and the art allows me to integrate my historical, present, future voices, thus communicating with all generations. It is my purpose in the making of my art to guide one to discover a self-actualization of the human spirit--an ongoing conversation between the artist and the viewer. I cherish my freedom to speak through my dyed fabrics, beads, embellishments, and found objects. This visual fiber text has helped me discover a serene appreciation for my own being and often calms my spiritual soul in today's chaotic stream of life.
Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart has been making her works of art for more than 25 years. She has traveled and shown her work in Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, France (Paris), England (London), Italy, and Greece as well as throughout the United States.
