A gray fog enveloped my home this morning...

A gray, velvety fog enveloped my home this morning which made getting out of bed more difficult than usual. The quilts were so soothing and warm and I had both my 19 year old cat Desdemona and 13 year old dog Rosie sleeping beside me barely moved when I tried at first to get out of bed. I knew it would be a two cup day for coffee...the gray colors and light mists of rain made it very easy to actually crawl back into bed. I reached for a worn, soft long sleeve tee and wrapped vibrant tie dye scarf around my neck to take off the damp chill when it would be time to leave my cocoon ...my log home on the hill. Even with coffee I do not think I actually woke up all day. For lunch we had a small group in the gallery area and I had a big old cheeseburger made especially for me by Cindy. I worked on a couple requested baby cards and met with a wonderful client who came in in plenty of time to request that I create a small 6 by 6 inch canvas with a rabbit theme. Small, intimate work for a special friend who lives far away. My mind is already spinning a tail...with a fluffy tale so I may make two or even three at the same time to give her a choice. I will work on these while I am cutting fabrics, soaking and dyeing the panels I am working on. I love having a light and fun exercise to bring in the Spring in the studio.

Ken is on his way to stay with his mother for a couple days...she went to the cardiologist today and there are so many questions to answer before any decisions are made about her future. I will miss him but I am so grateful the weather was not a blizzard condition which can be normal here in Ohio. I will use this time of solitude as a quiet moment to reflect and envision me completing one day at a time the big responsibility that has been awarded to me. Have a quiet evening and be safe and express gratitude. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

  4. I find the blanket of fog to be very comforting during the gray days of February. Today the sun is breaking through and the clear blue sky is opening our work week with a smile. Ken is home now and we have a day to catch up together. Enjoy your quiet moments. Blessings and peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
