The little ones are out tonight .....

The little ones were out tonight on the courthouse square in Newark for Trick or treating ...the weather was superb and almost 80 degrees even though we have been warned this may be the very last of the warm sunshine for the next couple of days.  The squeals and giggles were running past me as I attempted to capture the innocence of childhood fun.  With the chaos on the political front and sad news about abused children it was a delight to witness families continuing the tradition. For whatever reason ...The Midland failed to pass out sweet treats this year ....and I was in my newest Halloween apron and attire.  Next Wednesday we will celebrate indoors by a parade in costumes and painting individual pumpkins with glitter greens and golds on Family night at The Grill Deli.  Each community seems to have a different date to trick or treating... we did have the most agreeable warm weather for all the little ones running around in costume.

I had a few more visitors today...John Lewis stopped by with his girlfriend Jody with sad news that his mother had passed from cancer in August.  Sue Lewis was a wonderful fiber artist and still went to work each morning.  Then Gail came in ...very thin after six weeks in Hospice care.  I wish her daughter had called me ...I could have at least visited her during this hospital stay.  I told her I thought they had been traveling...on a cruise... out in Colorado.... anywhere but a long grueling hospital stay.  She stayed for about 2 hours ...then she needed to get home to rest.  She has therapy daily to ease the tightening in the difficulty of swallowing.  She will remain in my prayers for a full recovery.

I love sorting...touching...arranging my beads and buttons for the embellishments on the quilt...
a layer of shimmering colors in an organic design with the flora and fauna themes...
I can see the fine rayon threads also adding another textural place to rest the viewers eyes...
 further layers to come tomorrow...
an old friend...John Lewis and his friend Jody...
Gail has returned with her smile...after a harrowing summer of ill health and even Hospice care for six weeks...
The Halloween cards are finally completed... I will miss this fun project...it is much like playing with colors and stuff.....
The haunted house is almost complete...
I will draw a name next week so this can go home with a lucky child....
I need to add a bit more shimmer and glitter....
the windows are the basket liner papers from our anniversary dinner... dripped with gold paints and and inks and then stamped....
Now who is really having the real fun???
 Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...some candy please...

the one on the left is really a woman DJ from the country radio station here....
she runs the new coffee shop downtown and gave me a coupon to come in and try her special roast...
even He-man needs to rest his feet but he is on a mission...
Cooper and Carter are passing out candies at The Grill...pretty darn cute pirates!
 Cooper loves his Tootsie rolls...
I love Carter's earring and check out that beard!
Even the bank ...Huntington ...got into the seasonal feelings complete with fog machine...
Boooooooooo....this is not really a scary bank....
Brother hugs his sweet sister as they begin their Halloween journey...
Dorothy ...where is ToTo????
I am tired Dad...I am only 6 month old... what is candy anyway?
A family who treats together ...stays together!!!

This is the tiniest Spanish dancer in the parade...  sweet.
I need to get back to work...I hope you enjoy the little ones.  Imagine and Live in Peace,  Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
