button selections to share with Lyn on her journey and outreach program....
Today I had a couple of wonderful visitors grace my door.  Mackenzie is a student from Newark Catholic High school (5 years ago).  We ended up spending most of the afternoon together and I took her over to meet Lynn Logan Grimes and Larry Tuber.  Lynn explained the Open Saturday schedules and events and shared the possibility of a volunteering experience.  We quickly walked through the Aminah Robinson's wonderful exhibit and hopefully Mackenzie will take the time to be still and come back to her drawing exercises in my studio on her days off.  Mackenzie is a remarkable young woman and struggling to find her way in her artist journey.  Then Jane Alexander stopped by after she voted and she shared her stories about liberation in the 1970's.  Jane shared the success Samantha Hookaway ...her grand daughter who is a remarkable glass artist now living in Sweden with her fiance.  Sam had her hand blown glass ornaments in the LCA gallery while she was an under graduate at OSU  (this was years ago).   I am learning daily that you never know how an artist's work will change the lives of others.... mine  has been blessed.   The Chinese proverb ... "Half the sky is held up by women...when you educate a girl you change the course of her world."  I came home after running a few errands...a few traumas with a daughter.... I love so but I came home very exhausted.... now I want to mindlessly quilt to ease the deep tension in my chest.  Imagine and Live in Peace,  Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

  1. Mary Helen, I am dizzy from looking at those buttons (a personal weakness!). haha. How wonderful that you have a community of creative people around you. And how equally wonderful, when life is a little stressful, we can lose ourselves in art and recharge. :) Happy weekend!
