Solitude with Christmas Carols in my studio....

The sun was shining ....and the temperature was unseasonably warm for a December weekend and I had carols throughout the studio for five hours. Tonight was the Gallery Hop over at the Short North which is one of my favorite activities but the truth is I had plenty of work to complete for the upcoming Holidays. I have completed the commissions for individual Christmas Cards and will post the final Button Floozies exchange for Monday. I am sorting some special Christmas gift items and I bough a new program for my Cricut machine ...I am just learning but I think this will offer many options for efficiency in different product lines. I am working on a design for "handbags" designs for a dear friend and now have five pet commissions to complete for Christmas presents. I am almost finished with the special apron designs for a very creative teacher friend of mine. I think in the five hours I made over 25 cards and each one is filled with a childlike joyful approach. I have discovered that once I get myself into a rhythm ...the process becomes almost like a dance with colors and textures. Positive and negative shapes...design elements...ribbons and jingle bells and snowflake punches and trims of many kinds. I came home and enjoyed the homemade bean soup and Ken had made cornbread ...delicious comfort foods for a evening at home.

I am worried about my younger brother in Philadelphia...he has been ill all week and has cellulitis (spelling) in his ankle and foot. He sounded extremely weak but assures me he will take the medications needed and sleep is really helping him get his strength back. I hate being so far ...I feel I could at least take him dinner and soup to help him get his way back to work. I love you Mark Timothy!

Well I need to get back to work for now. Blessings and sweet dreams filled with your favorite Christmas carols playing in your head! Peace. Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

  4. Yikes, I'm exhausted just reading all you're doing!! OY I too put on some Christmas carols in my studio...trying to get into the groove of the season. I have a Mario Lanza CD...memories of my childhood. My hubby came in and told me my music was "lame," and I told him he just didn't or wouldn't appreciate Mario...what's Christmas without him. Except when he sings, "We Three Kings..." and I can't help but burst out in laughter...waiting for the "exploding cigar" line!! Oh well, doesn't take much to entertain me!! LOL

Have a great week and I hope your brother is doing better. Take care of yourself too.
