Family night ...with Polar bears and giggles....

take black acid free foam core...
add white and blue china marker crayons...
then create your own exploration of the polar regions...
now draw your own polar bears...
penguins... Abby and Justin have the right idea....
Nickie is very composed and focused as she begins her sketch using the white crayon...slowing adding details ...her polar bear is leaping forward...
this is totally recycled black acid free  foam core...saved from a dumpster and perfect for experimenting with positive and negative space....

I spent time cutting these boards down and in a jiffy we have an excellent art resource...
Lindsay is carefully drawing her polar bear from a front exposure... a simple step...slowly give life to her sketch....
This is a little bit dark...but we were treated to a beautiful red sky as the last rays of sunlight raced across a frigid cool sky.....
Collin is working on his impression of a very big penguin ....be very afraid....

slowly the table began to fill with a collection of delightful polar bears....Katrina drew this cute cub....
the discussion of techniques...and possibilities... this was a great discussion tonight...
Michelle is working on her ice floating island and mother polar bear...we talked briefly about the disappearing environment due to climate changes....
the details become visible .... one tiny scratch mark at a time...
This polar bear by Abby looks so approachable ...kind of like a big friendly puppy dog....Grrrrrrr...do not be confused...these are dealy hunters......
the hands of the artists are very busy as they focused on the black...the white...and the blue crayon...
Katrina asks the most important questions...
Aris is delightful ...she is a free spirit and loves to make Art...her mother Ruth is an artist and so encouraging...
the white hair is a challenge to capture in a drawing...
oh Katrina is ready to start another sketch...

Aris is our runway model tonight...the zebra jacket...a tie dyed shirt...incredible leggings..and a new bag to carry her precious art stuff...

Dylan is slowing concentrating and improving his visual skills with each week's activity...
Ian came in with more information about the species of penguins...sizes...details....identifying marks...
what a wonderful collection of polar bears..........
Katrina's polar bears are leaping and curious..now on to the third sketch...
a gentle critique from beautiful minds united in creation process.....
We have all watched little Molly Elizabeth grow in inquisitiveness ...she wanted to see everyone and everything...she is 1 of 8 beautiful children....
Ian is displaying his knowledge of the species .... this one loves to draw....
Dylan is slowly opening up ...a small smile for his participation.....
happy Birthday Andrew ...you are 8 years old and we can make some art with acrylics real soon.....  you have two canvases ...easels .and the paints you need to make your work of ART.
Katrina begins her third sketch...this one looks very much like the Coca Cola Santa Polar Bear.........
Excellent job Katrina!!!  You really worked hard tonight and as usual you are always so pleasant....and willing...
tonight I offered the movie RIO for everyone's enjoyment...this movie is filled with joy and beautiful colors........

Our family night may be limited... due to costs of labor and hours ....they are just breaking even and that is not very good business.  I hope your day was filled with JOY!  Now I am back to work...two day until I deliver my works to the gallery.  Imagine and LIVE IN Peace.  Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
