Thursday ...a slow but constant steady flow today....

I can not believe the week is coming to an end...I did lose two days but time seems to be flying by.  Tomorrow Ken and I will attend a very special opening for a dear friend Wib Mock...he has spent a life time working in wood and creating cabinets, furniture and chairs, intricate wood boxes and vessels.  He is a true inspiration...steady slow intense work...and working for the highest quality in working with a multitude of diverse woods and timbers.  He is officially retiring from his volunteering wood shop at The Works....he is leaving some very large shoes to fill.  I will miss his gentle smile and quiet demeanor but he will enjoy some time with his beautiful bride.

I continued working with my sugar cookie inspired wooden ornaments.  The advent tree with 25 gift boxes is now ready for final "FUN" embellishments and sparkles.  I organized the materials for next week's family night...a simple snowman stencil project that will be collaged onto recycled matte board.  I want to allow them to create works they can use to decorate their own rooms and trees for the holidays.  Freedom to decide what exactly they want ...in their styles...for their rooms.  I seem to be seeing less and less of free open ended projects coming out of classrooms...if a child is even lucky enough to have an Art teacher in their school.

Wib's postcard is stunning...I am not sure how they decided which vessels they would select for publication...  I want to remember to photo graph as much as possible...
25 little boxes ...I want to put 1 inch squares of holiday papers in side and decorate each day's drawer in an unique way....I think I should have waited before I added the glitter....
snowmen....reindeer....Santa Claus....all before the jingle bells!
a delightful snowman frame....reindeer leaping and so forth....
I love the snowman...he looks as if he is about to burst into song....
tomorrow is going to be fun....

a special pet portrait...foamie snowmen for printing...Make It idea book... and underneath is another full box of wooden ornaments... I must start putting some art stuff into their designated place.

Ken and I are adopting a family and when he attended an after school basketball game I took advantage of the time to shop for two great kids.  I know they appreciate just about anything and LOVE making and creating with their own hands.  Another friend is buying pajamas and a fluffy robe for the little girl....i even found some soothing gift for the brave hard working single Mom.  Now I want to wrap these up in a special manner...the thrill of opening a special gift from someone they do not know.  :0)!  I love playing Santa ...Christmas is for children!  Enjoy a couple of photos and have a great Friday in your studios.  I am attending the volunteers luncheon tomorrow and then back to my studio.  Peace,  Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
