My best laid plans...to go to the Capital University celebrations for MLK and then attend the afternoon events at our King Center. Well my medications held my body hostage and I knew I might not even be able to make the drive to Columbus... without the bathroom nearby. I stayed warm ...it is in single digits temperatures here today and a light dusting of snow....under my quilts and soaked up the amazing events in Washington, DC. It was as Barack stated a consecration of our Democracy's foundations....we all need to find a way to give support and heal our nation's sorrows. Maybe next year I will be able to attend a larger celebration but watching with Ken made it almost a sacrament in Faith.
I am working tonight...trying to keep my stitches moving forward. The quilting continues to help me stay calm and meditative. Tomorrow I am picking up Lisa's photographs so Ken can help me to install her images of her Atlantic journey ...a month of solitude and walks along a beach. Lisa captured sacred marks of the tidal pools ...remnants of passing life forms...skies to open the heart's murmurs to a poetic rhythm revealed for us all.
I was touched by the new poet laureate Richard Blanco.... so elegant in his prose and memories so beautifully expressed of working hands...in all walks of life here in America. I hope to research some of his other poetry...I know very little about this elegant young man. The performances of James Taylor, Kelly Clarkson and Beyonce' were so powerful ...even in the frigid temperatures ...and we know how the cold affects the human voice.
I have unfolded my two large quilts to refresh the hand quilting and double check the embellishments...it is like a afternoon visit with two loving friends..........

Lyn Logan Grimes.....working and collecting calls from artists that have not arrived....there is a day of work here... and we cannot start until we see the whole story in the body of works............
look closely and you will find the painting inside the circular painting................. the 3D effect is intriguing...profiles and quiet voices........
