Janice is sharing the wealth that is contained and offered when you enter the doors at The Works...another new dedicated volunteer...we welcome you........
the color images are printed onto aluminum ...striking...hard edges to document a young woman's journey....
Lyn and I placed them on the floor and then moved them up to the wall reserved for Lisa's works...
I think we finally got the right spacing and placement for the color images,,,,,,,,,,,
we then did the same method to place and space the black and white images .... finding just the right space and lighting is an art in itself.....I think Lisa would have approved...
the light is shining in these images...captured in a photon of light... to reveal her vision ...her passage...and journey in time......
tonight we began working on the theme ...Galapagos Islands and their mysterious creatures known as iguanas....using crayons and colored pencils they drew on long pieces of recycled foam core.... the size and shape of the drawing material proved to be empowering the young artists....
This little one...Katriana was ready to jump in and create both her iguana on top of her cactus...small intricate marks ...we were all cold tonight...I think the furnace was not working properly so I made instant hot chocolate with marshmallows to keep up strong....
her little brother Alex had a few tricks up his sleeves...I was thrilled because he was so intent on making something to surprise me....
tonight the older youth group was able to attend family night...Lauren is a new arrival...she is working intently and definitely shows talents....
the cold temperatures did not seem to really slow them down....
I fell in Love with Aris from Paris in her wonderful warm hat...she is a very cute little bunny....
the movie was The Master of Disguise...with Dana Carver and the little ones were enthralled with his capers and movements...
Dylan has an iguana in his home with his grandparents...Lizzie is a quite large iguana ....this quiet spirit is beginning to open up........
serious artist is at work here.........
Gabby is one of the daughters of the gals over at the Deli...she just makes me happy when she is here....she is blossoming right in front of our eyes...
Ian was the last arrival and ready and able to create a humorous interpretation ...of desert iguanas...he is a very talented young man and will be going to Canada over Spring break......
choosing the right color...is essential for the completion of this long iguana portrait........
the concentration is still growing.........
now to make discerning choices of how to complete her desert sketch...
the older girls are dancing to the Grammy's 2013 nominations.....I really do miss seeing them every week....
Aris from Paris has finished her hot chocolate and ready to get down to work....
I met with Lyn Logan Grimes this morning as we carefully unpacked the photos for Lisa's first exhibit. The company did a very professional job in their packaging and final presentation. The images are stunning and seem almost to be alive when printed onto aluminum. Lisa Marie's hard edges in sharp contrast to my soft fiber quilts both tell the story of a woman's journey.
I am very tired tonight...these extreme cold temperatures are hard on my joints and my endurance.... I wish you all peace and tomorrow I will work on the collaboration artist statement. Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
Lyn's works are so beautiful and how you did them is amazing, her spirit thanks you I am sure. xox
ReplyDeleteToday I am in deep thought to find a way to put a voice to her visions. The frigid temperatures are painful for me right now so I have decided to spend the time at home for respect...empower...and include Lisa's vision through her camera's lens and her heart. Pray that I make the right choices in my words...I wish you peace today. Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
