Today went from morning rains to afternoon sunshine...

Miracles for us all to enjoy.  Maya and Sabrina and Hannah traveled down to Dawes to work with my ADD artists...we were suppose to harvest our beautiful salad greens but the rains made it a dreary task.  So Katie planned the activities...we made hand made paper together!  painstakingly the artists tore the papers into small colorful pieces...mixed them up with water and put them in a blender....and before we knew it we have made a colorful slush of colors.  After pouring them onto a screen...sponging them to remove some excess waters....and pressed between blotting papers ...we made forms and shapes of colorful papers.  The rains continued to fall down on us...but nothing like the rains in Nashville!  You can see from the photos it was a quiet calming process for a rainy Friday.

The girls and I drove downtown to The Works for the end of summer final free concert.  Torrential rains ...so we headed over to the large meeting room where "Sticks and Stones" were already playing their mellow lyrics of songs loved and cherished in the 1960's up to today.  Ken met me with Erin and her Morgan and Lyndon as we took in the music...Zumba dance routines....activities in active living ....apple slices from McDonald's for a morning snack ...and great Velvet Ice Cream!!!   We went over the the Grill and shared pizzas...hamburgers...chips...pop....pickles ...and then mints for dessert.  Exhaustion was setting in...for all of us...and little Lyndon was ready for his nap as well as Morgan.  We hugged goodbyes...and I took the girls to TJ Maxx for some window shopping for back to school clothes!  When I came home I dropped to my bed ...and fell asleep!  Happy Happy Happy Friday!

the group settled in the studio after drying off from the morning showers.........

Maya gently persuaded Phil he could make his own paper...but she was concerned at how sad he seemed to be today.......
David was in an extremely good mood and ready to make ART.... he kept telling us he loved everyone today....
Rachel worked with my buddy Mark ...she has a quiet way in her approach...very reassuring and calm....
this artist was enjoying tearing up papers...this was an easy process...
Steven volunteered to go first...dropped his papers into the blenders...added water... and pushed the little buttons...
Hannah and Ruth Dani and Katie were busy working in the back of the room...quiet observers..........
Mark was hands on and checked to be sure the lid was on the blender correctly...

the colored papers are very appealing...........
Ruth was helping blot the wet slush of colors before they used a large sponge to continue leeching the water from the paper.....
Maya Rose and mark discuss how much water to leave in his handmade paper sheet....
the wax paper broke a couple of times...but no need to worry...she quickly handled the problem... and saved his paper.......
David was very happy with his results...........
a few samples of our hand made papers..............that is Hannah's paper heart from on the corner of the table...........

Dani was carefully pressing the water out of her paper sample...they were delighted  and making plans for what to do next........
Gabriel was hooking a rug ...and explained the process of using the tool and weaving the design of colorful swirl of rainbow colors.......
Maya Rose helped Dani remove the excess water from her paper....

I did not have the camera at The Works..should have...because so much was going on at The Works!!!  I wish you all peace!  Have a great weekend!  I am wishing the Peletonia riders the best of LUCK tomorrow as they ride to raise moneys for cancer research!  You are the real heroes!  Peace,  Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
