We are safe...but so many are at a loss....

I awoke this morning thanking my lucky stars that the trees were all intact in my yard and the garden had survived most of the ravages of the 60 mph winds and torrential rains. Tornadoes have been sited but as of now I do not know what the extent of the damage is even now after a day's news reports. I stopped by the animal clinic to check on a Cocker spaniel named Stella who had been abandoned. They were still without electricity and fortunately Miss Stella had been adopted out again and hopefully for good this time. I had calling hours for another older dear man who has supported the Arts his whole life in our community. I will miss you Lew and remember all you have given to improve the Licking County Arts. I collected my needed collage materials and headed over to meet some wonderful Girls Scouts for their Art badge certification. We worked for almost two hours and they were so attentive and enjoyed the sticky intense process. They selected their fantasy colors, the focus of their 8" by 10" canvas and jumped right in. I worked at a circular table and made my rounds trying to guide each young artist as they made their monkeys, kittens, puppies, butterflies and little rabbits. Before we knew it the time has come to an end...these young girls were a gift to my heart. I know when this happens I am in the right place and doing the right thing making the Art process available for everyone. I hope you will enjoy their smiling faces and Art works to hang onto their bedroom walls.

I have my patterns to cut out for tomorrow for our community projects.... I will have several forms and styles for my youngsters to explore. I need to finish my chores tonight. I am praying for all those affected by and devastated by this Spring's incredible, forceful storms. Our farmers here are struggling to plant their fields of corn and soy beans ...a crop that supports their lives and financial stability for the entire year. We will all be paying soon with the extra costs as fuel and food costs soar. We have another temperamental weather forecast tonight so let us all pray for a good night's sleep. 2. Mary Helen, you have wind and torrents...send us some of those "torrents," we have the wind, God knows. Our farming community both here in West TX and southern NM are being devastated by the severe drought. We've broken all kinds of records with no rain in sight. The last time we received any rain or precipitation was the big freeze in early Feb. There wasn't the usual snow up in the Rockies in CO, their melting snow caps are what we depend on down river.

60mph winds are not at all unusual here...lots of real estate exchanges with NM and Mexico. The winds have been howling making my little herb garden impossible to keep...they dry out the soil not long after I've watered, making germination quite frustrating...going today and just buy the darn plants...no seeds this year!!

Take care and be safe...this Spring weather is wreaking havoc everywhere!!

    xxoo,
    Georgina
