I feel Lucky tonight...

Ken and I attended a celebration today for a dear friend ...Connie Baldwin received the Everett D. Reese Award for her lifetime of generosity and integrity and compassion to the community members of Licking County. A former elementary teacher at Cherry Valley Elementary School she has made numerous philanthropic donations to education. Some of her gifts include the COTC and The Ohio State University and are nothing short of extraordinary. Connie is still a teacher at heart and she can always find a solution to the challenges faced in the educational systems today. At 95 years young she is an inspiration and the kind of woman i aspire to be.

Tonight I volunteered for the Midland Theater and the guest performer was Mary Chapin Carpenter with a new young artist Tift Merritt opening. The place was packed and definitely rocking with the good old oldies and introduced her latest album...yes she calls them her albums. Carpenter 's new album is called the Age of Miracles which she wrote after her recovery from a life-threatening pulmonary embolism. Her resilience and strength explored her inward journey to find the answer to the unavoidable question of "What Now" She is a wonderful storyteller and an outstanding literary source for the classics reborn through her music. I am tired now but tomorrow it is going to be a renewal for my body and my soul. i hope you enjoy the celebratory photos of my dear friend Connie. Imagine and Live in Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

Carpenter's bass player is Don Dixon and he lives down the street from where I lived in Canton, Ohio ...what a small small world. He was as charming as he was talented....what a small small world.
